It’s been over 5 months since the global lockdown, and some of the hardest hit businesses have been the small and medium sized businesses. Food business almost came to a halt as people weren’t ‘out’ anymore and deliveries touched zero as fear increased. Whether it was the café around the corner or the bakery shop in the local market, everyone was impacted and many were on the lookout for new ways to survive.
Social media has been one place where businesses and people have been able to keep in touch and engage during times of crisis.
Instagram recently announced the launch of a new feature aimed at bolstering the economy and giving boost to existing businesses. Instagram’s new feature includes a sticker that can be added to the Instagram stories which allows users of the app to order food items from their favourite local eateries. There is also an option to purchase a gift card – with the help of a simple sticker.
When someone taps on the Order Food button on your Instagram profile or Food Orders on your Instagram Story, they will be redirected to your partner’s website to order food or take outs.
If you don’t see Order Food profile button or Food Orders story sticker, then you haven’t set up this feature yet. When you tap on the Order Food button or sticker, you will be redirected to one of your partner’s websites such as Uber eats etc. This feature is available only on the Instagram mobile app and not the Instagram website.
