Microsoft announces promotion extensions available just in time for the holiday season

Businesses can promote deals and offers for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas and other occasions in text ads.

As the holiday season approaches, promotions and deals and offers for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas and other occasions have geared up. In line with this Microsoft Advertising has announced the promotion extensions available – just in time for the Holidays.

These promotion extensions are available for Microsoft Advertising accounts in the U.S. These are similar to the Google Ads promotion extensions. They include the ability to select from a list of events or occasions such as Christmas, Black Friday or Cyber Monday. The promotion details will also be seen in Microsoft Advertising Text Ads.

About a year Ago, Google introduced the promotion extensions in text ads. Promotion extensions let advertisers display specific offers in their text ads without having to create new ads. These ads can include a percentage off, a promotion code and offer period. You can test the feature along with campaign drafts and campaign experiments.

Promotion Extensions on Microsoft can be set up at the account, campaign or group level. The landing page for your ads must include the promotion details – make sure that you have the details in place before you begin your Microsoft Ads Campaign.

Be aware that promotion extensions aren’t to be confused with merchant promotions. Merchant promotions display on shopping ads.

Both Google as well as Microsoft support merchant promotions in their respective Merchant Centers.
